What to BRING to Mountain Vista Farm

We look forward to welcoming you to Mountain Vista Farm. We know your decision to enter treatment has not been an easy one, but you have made a great decision that can change your life. We believe you'll be very happy you've made this choice.

While our setting is relaxed and informal in many respects, you will be coming to a structured alcohol and drug addiction recovery center. As with any rehabilitation facility, there are important guidelines, some of which you might not expect without preparation. An example of this is that you should not bring your camera. This guideline helps protect our clients' confidentiality, but it might be a surprise if you do not know ahead of time. Please help prepare yourself for treatment by reading the following information carefully.

Prescription Medications: Bring a full month's supply of each of your current medications in their original containers. Please do not bring mood-altering medications, such as opiate painkillers or tranquilizers. (If you have a question about whether to bring a specific medication, please ask the staff before you come.) You should know that our medical director must approve all medications before they may be used during treatment.

Medical Information:
    Insurance Cards, Including numbers
Names and telephone numbers for doctors and therapists who are currentl treating you.

Clothes: Bring comfortable, casual clothes. You might want to bring some nicer clothes for Family Program Day (Sunday). You will not need to pack for a full month, since there are washers and dryers here. Please be aware that you should not bring any clothing that advertises alcohol or drug products or clothing that is provocative or revealing. Be sure to include_

    Comfortable shoes
    Exercise clothes
    Jacket or a warm sweater
Swimming suit and beach towel (summer months)

Personal Items: Bring items for your comfort, including
    Toiletries (nothing containing alcohol)
    Feminine hygiene supplies
    Alarm clock
Stamps, note paper, and address book
We provide bedding, but you may bring your own pillow or comforter, if you like.

Money: Bring enough spending money for small items - not more than $100. (We go to the store for clients once weekly). Also, bring sufficient change or a telephone card for use on the public phones

What NOT TO BRING to Mountain Vista Farm

Alcohol, drugs, over-the-counter medications, herbs, nutritional supplements and vitamins. If you feel that you must bring over-the-counter drugs, they must be given to staff on arrival and approved by the physician before they may be used.

Your vehicle: It is problematic to leave your vehicle at Mountain Vista Farm. We ask that you make arrangements for someone else to drive you to treatment. If you must drive yourself, please arrange for someone to remove your vehicle from the premises as soon as possible.

Your work: It is vital for you to focus your attention and energy on the treatment process while you are with us. For that reason, we ask you to leave your work behind and free yourself to become fully engaged at Mountain Vista Farm. We discourage your bringing books and magazines that are not directly related to recovery.

Valuables: Please do not bring expensive items, such as jewelry.

Other items not allowed in treatment:

    Cameras
    Cell phones
Electronics, including computers, electronic Internet connections and electronic games
    Weapons of any kind
